Muzaffarnagar demands Justice Protest at Jantar Mantar New Delhi

New Delhi: For demanding justice in Muzaffarnagar violence, All India Imams Council (AIIC) - a national platform of Muslims Leaders –Imams has organised a Dharna at Jantar Mantar today. The protest attended by Muslims leaders- Imams from more than 15 states of India which included renowned scholars. The dharna also attended by several victims who lost the familes and were personally affect during the riots. The event presided by Moulana Usman Baig Rashadi National President of AIIC.
Following the recent violence in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh in September 2013, All India Imams Council under the leadership of Natoinal President Maulana Usman Baig Rashadi a team visited some of the relief camp in Muzaffar nagar. The victims described how they started being attacked from the night of 7th September after the Jat mahapanchayat. The recent riots are the result of a political conspiracy to polarize the situation against the Muslims and instil fear in them, said Mr. Maulana Usman Baig.
Many people are already dead and many more have been injured, thousands displaced and there has been huge loss of property. Only some police officers have been suspended. If a huge mahapanchayat is allowed to be held in which people came armed, when section 144 was in implementation, it shows complicity of administration. At what level the decision was taken to allow the mahapanchayat to be held? He added.
Imams Council Natoinal General Secretary Shahul Hameed Baqavi said a comparison can be made with the Gujarat Riots 2002 since in both cases the BJP was responsible for inciting the violence against the Muslims and only targeted low income, less influential and entirely helpless members of the society,” he said adding that the party which has gained the most from this incident is the BJP. “The BJP’s political strategy here is to divide the Jaat and Muslim communities so that they can divide the votes on communal lines.”
It is sad that parties like SP and BJP have brought back the politics of riots full-fledged. They are playing with fire while people pay a price with their lives. We strongly condemn the communalisation of politics and hope that people will teach a lesson to the parties indulging in this in the next elections. He said.
Hafiz Manzoor SDPI National vice President said the people of Muzaffarnagar have no immediate need for food, clothes or shelter. What has affected them the most is their displacement? They want to be able to go back to their own homes. They require legal help and moral support also.

The Communal Violence Bill should be passed so that the politicians who give inflammatory speeches can be charged according to it. There should also be better representation of Muslims in the military and the police force. With better representation, such riots have a better chance of being controlled,” he demanded.
